The Bright Mirror Project (AYCH Future Cities?)
Bright Mirror is a creativity game developed by Olivier Balez and the students from the Sustainable Cities Design Lab of L'Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique. Bright Mirror can be considered a Speculative design or Design fiction tool. In this sense, it drives participants to build up a story set in 2045. Through the collaborative construction of a narrative, participants share and discover a diversity of visions of a possible future.
The futuristic stories and images produced at the end of the game are creative and charged with multiple meanings, but we see Bright Mirror only as of the beginning of a powerful innovation process about the present. Imagining an ideal, unwanted or simply a possible future becomes a medium for better understanding today's societal and environmental challenges.
In the Bright Mirror Project, we develop, test, improve and make evolve the tool for the purposes of AYCH. In addition, we explore its potential for other contexts of application.
