Situating the AYCH project in the context of the sustainable city
After a short presentation of the challenges of the cities (identity, territorial marketing, coping with population growth) and the resulting inequalities (territorial, cultural with the predominance of the city center, and the dependence on cars in peripheral districts ), the presentation shows AYCH's positioning at the heart of sustainable city issues to :
- Carry an optimistic speech and democratize coherent learning of technologies , contrary to binary and reductive visions: it is in particular the role of creative jam , workshops and tools like Bright Mirror .
- Reverse the sustainable development approach: beyond a planning approach, complement it with an approach more related to agency action and individual responsibility. This is all the role of residences or incubations .
- Set up manufacturing units (third places, hubs) to prototype clean objects to reinvent the city and public spaces. It is in particular the vocation of prototyping new objects specific to the “genius of the place”. Will the hubs eventually be true local activators of the territory?
- Try to have a sustainable reading grid of AYCH projects with the use to refine the high quality matrix of social life giving a “sense” to projects.
- Share resources and knowledge on the digital (and physical) space: this is the whole question of Wiki , its open source approach) but also internationals creative jams (see that of Gijon, or that of Lugo for example) who come to disseminate these practices.
- These approaches also question the role of schools as Plymouth College of Art, EDNA , and their role in spreading these practices and their knowledge externally (idea of the school which is a school ), and more generally the role of public structures as INTERREG , but also of communities which disseminate and support practices with uncertain economic models.
